Paper & Glam

This site is a gracious alternative to your morning paper, dedicated to the adventure of learning to love and live well, wearing haute pink, and believing love wins. I write about learning to love God and love people, fitness, scrapbooking, decorating my 800 sf Denver Dreamhome, and fitting it all in. My hope is that one day Paper & Glam represents a community of girls leaving a hot pink dent on this world not just with what we accomplish or even who we become, but with the way we have loved. Let our lives be the proof that love wins

Glitter Pumpkins

KeepCalmWicked

To say Halloween snuck up on me would be generous, sneak attack would be accurate. I just wrote a check and dated it for September. Priorities are realigned, time reallocated, and choas averted. My home is decorated, festive baking, and crafting has taken place!

My best friend and I set asside some quality time this Friday night to put a personal spin on the pumpkin carving tradition, and start our own tradition "pumpkin glittering." We glammed up some pumpkins, and the best part of our tradition? We won't have to say goodbye to these pretties this week. We're sure they'll make an appearance for many Halloweens to come.

Please enjoy our October project. We love it, and hope you do, too!

Step 1: Paint glue on pumpkin one vertical section at a time.

Step 2: Gently shake glitter on to the pumpkin for even glitter distribution.

Step 3: Spray clear spray paint to laquer pumpkins and seal the glitter.

Step 4: Wait 24 hours for the glitter to set, and tie ribbons on the stems.

Step 5: Place glammy pumpkins in a dreamhome or on a mantle near you!

Brooms: We used the same process for the witch's brooms. Except instead of loose glitter, we used spray glitter since we weren't concerned with even "glitterage."

It's Friday night, there's glitter all over the room, pictures just ended up online, and I'm pretty sure these pumpkins rule. We didn't "max any credit cards or get kicked out of the bar" (winning)....we made glitter pumpkins. And next year, we're doing it all over again...get ready Halloween 2013!

Pumpkin Carving

Hello Monday Morning...here is another layout I did for Design Your Life. The theme for this week was repetition. The sketch by Cathy was for an 8x11 page so I converted to 12x12.  DSC00624
Here is the second spread. I still feel like these need a little spicing up...any ideas? I know the look the class is going for is "clean and simple" but what can I say, I love scrapbook glam!

And for the song of the week, I thought I'd share the link to the Halloween playlist I've been listening too.

Fun Halloween Playlist

This plus my Gold Canyon pumpkin pie candle help me feel like it's really Halloween this week. Its perpetual summer in San Diego...so there's no crisp fall air mixed with the smell of pine needles and leaves changing color. I always miss the seasons during the holidays.

I've also been watching the ABC family 13 days of Halloween specials. I love all those old movies from when I was little, like Hocus Pocus and the Scooby Doo cartoons.

Hocuspocus
Remember this? Who knew that was Sarah Jessica Parker. This is my all-time favorite Halloween movie, I remember watching it every single year growing up.

Halloween at the Beach

I was so proud of myself for getting our house all dressed up for Halloween by October 1st, and I'm just now getting the blog post up. So here are a few pictures of my house at Halloween. Keep in mind that I live at the beach so that theme is always underlying even during the holidays.

There is a palm tree and a pelican carved into my pumpkin...love carving pumpkins!

It was my best friend's birthday last week and this is the stash I wrapped for her. Some of it is just silly stuff like bath salts and tennis balls. But I like it to be a big pile; I'm still a kid like that.

I wish these hand-painted witch glasses didn't have to spend most of the year in storage...they're just so stinkin' cute.

DSC00575

I've had these bears since I was little, it's not Halloween without these little guys.

Meet Padre....he's there all year round.

This is my best friend and I on Halloween 2006. We change this picture with the seasons.

Masks are so cool, they always make me want to dress up for a masquerade ball.

These witch tapers are another favorite. Yah it's pretty much all my favorite. I love holiday festivities.

Gotta decorate the bathroom too!

DSC00588

Yep, those are some of my scrapbooks to the left...all pink and black of course : ).

Can I just take a moment and write about how much I LOVE candles? I just got my order from Gold Canyon. These are the most yummy and festive candles ever. Its also not Halloween if my house doesn't smell like a pumpkin patch!

DSC00568

These are pretty much the same shot of my kitchen but I couldn't decide whether the night or day shot was better, so I posted both : ). I love how Monday Night Football is on in the background of this one. My favorite show!

DSC00567

I ordered Pumpkin Pie (using this one for Halloween), Mulled Harvest (Thanksgiving), Cozy Christmas, and Holiday Wreath (two for Christmas). I love taking these out as the holidays go by. My mom always reminds me to keep the "light of God" shining in my house to remind me of His constanst presence -  love that.

I was thinking of posting the shots of the house at Christmas in 12 days of Christmas posts. And then follow it up with 12 days of Christmas layouts. Sound like fun?

Welcome

  • Hey there, thanks for visiting Paper & Glam!

My name is Lisamarie. I'm a California girl living in Denver, a runner at dawn, and a corporate girl by 9. I'm about God, glam, Vogue and Voltaire, wearing hot pink and believing love wins.

I mainly write about learning to love and live well, with sprinkles of fitness, scrapbooking, literature, decorating my 800 sf Denver Dreamhome, and fitting it all in.

My prayer is that we represent a community of girls leaving a hot pink dent on this world, not with what we accomplish or who we become, but with the way we have loved.

Let our lives be the proof that love wins.

    Love wins,
    Lisamarie
