This site is a gracious alternative to your morning paper, dedicated to the adventure of learning to love and live well, wearing haute pink, and believing love wins.
I write about learning to love God and love people, fitness, scrapbooking, decorating my 800 sf Denver Dreamhome, and fitting it all in.
My hope is that one day Paper & Glam represents a community of girls leaving a hot pink dent on this world not just with what we accomplish or even who we become, but with the way we have loved.
Let our lives be the proof that love wins
She was working as a designer for Ralph Lauren, and blogging her watercolor drawings.
One day she wrote a comment on the the editor of Lonny magazine's blog.
The editor checked out Caitlin's watercolor blog, and asked her to do a weekly series for the Lonny blog, called Watercolor Wednesday. From Watercolor Wednesday, Caitlin was picked up by Kate Spade, New York.
Wow.
There are plenty of people like Caitlin McGauley, Jon Acuff, and Gary Vaynerchuk boldly waving the flag of I created my dream job, you can do this, because I did.
Watch this video from Gary. You'll laugh like crazy, and you'll be challenged. It's my second favorite vid of all time (second only to How Bad Do You Want It?). Disclaimer: Profanity included.
"There is never a bad time if you believe, when you work hard, and when you know what you're doing...if you love it, you will win."
{Gary Vaynerchuk}
My phone case is Caitlin McGauley for Kate Spade. When I pick up my phone I'm reminded that if Caitlin can monetize watercolor, I can monetize paper, stickers, planners, glitter, words...whatever.
I love writing. I love scrapbooking. I love design. Honestly, I have no idea how I'm going to monetize it. And I'm good with that. I've had like four business plans in four months. But you know what? No two entrepreneurial stories are the same. I'm ok without knowing how my story will read. My job is to stop whining, and start hustling.
Here are the only things we can be certain of on the road to our dream jobs:
Our dreams will take sacrifice.
Our dreams will take longer than we want.
Our dreams will take belief.
But nothing else is going to get us jumping out of bed at 4:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. Only working on something that will leave a legacy will do that for us. Only working for something that will outlast us.
"Legacy is greater than currency."
{Gary Vaynerchuk}
One day my grand kids are going to read Paper & Glam, and I want them to be proud of me. (Hi Gracie! Grandma is proud of you.)
What will be your legacy? It won't be currency.
Figure it out. Stick to it. Never give up, ever.
mad hope. Lisamarie

Welcome
Hey there, thanks for visiting Paper & Glam!
My name is Lisamarie. I'm a California girl living in Denver, a runner at dawn, and a corporate girl by 9.
This site is a devotional to God, a celebration of life, the bittersweet anthem of growth and change, and a gracious and glamourous alternative to your morning paper.
I write about learning to love and live well, fitness, scrapbooking, decorating my 800 sf Denver Dreamhome, and fitting it all in.
My prayer is that we represent a community of girls leaving a hot pink dent on this world, not just with what we accomplish or who we become, but with the way we have loved.
In the end, only three things matter: how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you.

When you have come to the edge of all light that you know and are about to drop into the darkness of the unknown. FAITH is knowing one of two things will happen: There will be something solid to stand on or you will be taught to FLY.

We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us.
